The Farm Bill is Straight Up Welfare, But Not for the Farmer

It’s tough to see it any other way, but when you consider the attached chart created by the folks at Our Ohio, the farmer is getting very little in the farm bill.

I can’t think of any other sector of our economy that is more important than our food supply yet we care so little for it and so do our politicians. The day is going to come when we’d wish we put more of our collective resources into agriculture  especially when you consider how much money is going out the window for warfare and welfare.

No government program is going to satisfy everyone and certainly we need to cut spending at every level of government, but can we allow for our agricultural sector to suffer, and suffer in light of the fact that there has been a steady growth in food imports?
